Error in Word re. Window7

    After upgrading from Vista to Windows7 Home Premium I am having a problem opening Word docuements. I get an error saying..Check the temp environment variables. I have no idea what to do. I have a lot of assignments saved but I cannot open them. I hope someone will help me. Thanks

    possibly permissions or a corrupt registry key ?

    a fresh install of office might be the simplest solution ;)

    It is not to do with permissions. You have a default file set to something that does not exist. You can serach through your configuration and see if you can find it. (save to etc) or this:
    In Word 2007, run the Microsoft Office Diagnostics feature. To do this, click the Microsoft Office Button, click Word Options, click Resources, and then click Diagnose.
    In 2003 click Detect and Repair on the Help menu in Word

    thanks. I did what you suggested and presto it works. You saved my life. I hope you survive being a teenagers father.
