  • Thread Author
Dear Windows Insiders,

We are thrilled to share some fantastic updates to the Microsoft Photos app on Windows 11, tailored to enhance your overall photo viewing and importing experience. In response to your valuable feedback, we have implemented significant improvements to the Viewer and Media Import features. These updates are now being rolled out to Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels, aiming to elevate your interaction with the Microsoft Photos app. Here's a snippet of the new and improved features:

Viewer & Import Enhancements:

- Easy Access to Key Photos Actions: Essential actions like "Start slideshow" and "Share" are now prominently displayed on the main viewing screen, providing quick access without the need to navigate through menus.

- Dedicated Section for Microsoft Apps: Microsoft apps shortcuts are now grouped together, allowing seamless navigation to the full photo gallery, opening in Clipchamp, or accessing OneDrive directly from the viewer.

- Dynamic Zoom Slider: Enjoy enhanced control over image sizes with a draggable slider, enabling zoom levels from 10% to 800% of the original size.

- Photo Metadata Information: View the size and dimensions of your photos at the screen's lower edge for added convenience.

- Device Import Options: Easily manage the transfer of photos and videos from local devices at your preferred time.

- Viewer Performance: Experience improved viewer load times with new multi-process enhancements, resulting in a 2.1 times faster performance boost.

To access these exciting enhancements, ensure your Microsoft Photos app is updated to version 2024.11060.20004.0 or higher. As the update is gradually rolling out, it may take some time to be available to all users. We highly value your feedback, so please share your thoughts with us!
