Windows 7 “Failure configuring Windows updates...Reverting changes”

I get this message whenever I’m trying to boot up pc running Windows 7 Home Premium and it seems to run in a loop. I waited 5+ or so hours and nothing happens.

I hadn’t used this pc in 6 months or so, so maybe Windows is overwhelmed over the backlog of updates during that time.

I tried running it in Safe Mode and the same message appears.

I used the Windows 7 startup disk to run Startup Repair and it says that it cannot detect a problem.

I don’t know what to do next.

Any help will greatly be appreciated.

I would recommend, from the startup repair menu, rolling back to a system restore point prior to having the boot loop.

I’ve tried that too and it gives me an error that there’s no restore point to choose from
