Hope you are keeping to your New Years resolution(s)! WindowsForum.com has some updates:

Over the past few months, we have been short on updates, mostly because they have involved the backend, which may not be immediately noticeable to many members.

This is a very similar circumstance we find ourselves in today. However, due to the sheer number of updates, an effort will be made to document them here:
  • The database server was updated to the latest version.
  • The web server software was updated to the latest version(s).
  • PHP was updated to the latest version to 7.0.2 final.
  • The forum software was updated, which included, primarily, bug fixes.
  • Our search indexing server was updated.
  • The database server was updated to use the latest version of MariaDB.
  • Internal management software was extensively updated.
  • Backups are now, once again, done in a secure and orderly fashion (this means old backups are actually getting deleted automatically).
  • WindowsForum.com mobile apps were updated, and will continue to be updated regularly.
  • New theme seems to be well liked. Looking at the ability to let members customize their theme.

This type of back-end processing occurs regularly, and thus, daily publication of these changes would become somewhat redundant. Instead, this announcement attempts to keep what may be noticeable through swift page loading, etc.

We hope you are happy with the website, which has maintained an online presence, now, for years, and continues to go strong, in large part, due to our visitors, and, so much, due to our long time contributors.

Thank you so much for your support

Mike Fara @ WindowsForum.com
