Thank you for any assistance. I'm pretty familiar with Windows 7, computers in general.

I have a weird issue with trying to associate file extensions to .torrent files and to .xls, .doc and other microsoft office file associations. I have recently installed Office 2007.

Issue is that I try to change file association to open with anything other than "Windows shell common dll" and cannot. I try to browse to excel.exe to manually apply file extension but this proves futile as well.

I've tried using the file unassociation tool from
Link Removed - Invalid URL
but this does not do the trick either.

Other files .zip, .exe, ect.... I have no issue with.

Pretty frustrating to say the least.

Just for clarification, what utility do you want to associate the .doc file extension with?

One place to see what happens in the Start Menu, All Programs, Default Programs, set file associations.
