for everyone using firefox (or tor) … update your browser immediately … there are some critical updates you don't want to miss. the updates are engineered to circumvent a zero-day exploit. according to the article(s) posted below … evidently, pc 'n mac 'n linux share the same vulnerability. additionally, supposedly, this can also affect thunderbird email system. so get that software updated.

according to the article on arstechnica …
" The exploit code, the researcher added, adjusts the memory location of the payload based on the version of Firefox being exploited. The versions span from 41 to 50, with version 45 ESR being the version used by the latest version of the Tor browser. The adjustments are an indication that the people who developed the attack tested it extensively to ensure it worked on multiple releases of Firefox. "

p.s. i considered posting this in kemical's "software updates/firefox" thread … but decided that topic is too "specific" and is intended for people updating their software. also … unless patrons of firefox are looking for specific violations … they'd possibly miss the mark.

so, i chose the "windows security" board … because it is more generalized while remaining pro-active. kemical … pls feel free to move this post to another parent if necessary.
