Cabot Corp. (CBT): All employees safe; minimal facilities damage. The company, which makes carbon black and tantalum, said facilities in Aizu and Chiba lost power, with operations temporarily suspended during the quake. “Both facilities are able to manufacture, however supply chain and infrastructure disruptions over the coming weeks are likely to impact their ability to operate in the near term,” the company said.

Vitesse Semiconductor (VTSS): All employees safe; Tokyo office undamaged and functional. Vitesse said it “does not anticipate any major impact on its ability to supply product to customers, and believes that its inventories are sufficient to meet global demand until any supply chain disruptions are resolved.”

Amkor Technology (AMKR): No injured to employees; manufacturing facility in Kitakami, Japan, suffered “relatively minor damage,” and is closed due to power supply interruptions. The site was generating $10 million to $11 million in monthly sales before the quake. The company said it is “too early” to comment on the long-term impact of the quake.

Vishay (VSH): The company said that “its sales office in Tokyo is safe and all Vishay employees who work in Japan are well.”

Trend Micro: The security software company said its Tokyo headquarters “came through the recent Japanese earthquake with minimal damage and no injuries or loss of life.”
Maxim (MXIM): The chip maker said there has been no damage to its partner facility, Seiko Epson, from the earthquake, but that a power outage has affected production at the facility, in Sakata, Japan. That facility provided about 15% of Maxim’s wafer starts in the latest quarter. The company said it has begun shifting production to other fabs. Maxim said the quake will not have a material impact on results for the quarter ending March 26, but that the company is still assessing the potential impact on June quarter results.
