Windows 7 Games will not run on windows 7

I am aware that people have been having problems similar to this, but I have had a good mooch around other threads and so far nothing has worked, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I recently did a clean install of windows 7 on my samsung Q310 laptop (still at factory spec.), only to find that when I try to run games (eg. Doom 3 & Half Life 2) on it nothing happens. Not even an error message. I watch in the task manager as the process of the game comes up, and then it just dissapears.

I have installed all the updated drivers from the samsung website, and the driver for the nVIDIA GeForce Go 9200M GS graphics card but still no luck. I have also tried reinstalling games and running them in various compatibility modes. I think this is a graphics issue because when I run the one game I can run (fallout 1, classic =D), the colours are all messed up.

I have run dxdiag and it said all was well, but my slightly more tech savvy friend tells me that if I post this someone might be able to help?:

Well it's always best to have the latest drivers regardless of what they do... Dave I've also noticed your running 4GB of RAM but yet are only running in 32bit... If you bought the retail version of 7 you'll know that there's a choice of disks either 32 or 64bit. Why not upgrade to 64bit and be able to use all your RAM (I also have a sneaking feeling that your games will run better too)

Yeah I downloaded the latest Bios update from the samsung website, that is allegedly windows 7 compatible. Thanks for the suggestion though Kemical.

I have had a look at some of these programs that detect what drivers need updating and download them for you if you buy the registered product, and they have said the following are not up to date:
-Bluetooth radios
-Network adapters
-Intel (R) ICH9 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 2934
-Intel (R) ICH9 Family USB2 Enhanced Universal Host Controller - 293A
None of those should be causing the problem should they though? And I don't fancy registering...

Is it likely to be a graphics problem? Or something else?

I tried running the 64-bit setup, but an error message saying my system couldn't support it came up.

Finding drivers manually is a pain though, and I dont fancy paying for one of these driver upgraders. Windows seems to think all my drivers are up to date anyway, which makes me slightly suspicious about buying something like driver pro.

Hmm... I did some checking on the samsung website and there's no support for 64bit anywhere..weird!
Anyhow, I did find the driver page however: Support for Q310 SAMSUNG
