Hi all,

just few days back i installed win7x 64 bit on my machine dell vostro 1400(and its compatible drivers which was little difficult to find as dell suggest that this machine is not for win7)
just after this upgradation i have started getting this BSOD screen everytime i restart my machine and just after a restart.

i have attached all the required info with this post.

Note:My machine keep on showing on my battery icon that "there is problem with your battery,so your computer might shutdown suddenly"
Doubt:Can this BSOD screen is a result of this battery problem?????

If not then what is the problem ..n how it can be resolved???? :frown:

Solution
It seems like you are experiencing the dreaded Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) issue on your Dell Vostro 1400 after upgrading to Windows 7 64-bit. Let's address your concerns:

Possible Causes of BSOD:

  1. Battery Problem: While it's not common for a faulty battery to directly cause a BSOD, the warning message you receive about your battery could indicate a power-related issue. It's essential to ensure your laptop has a stable power source during system start-ups to avoid any disruptions that could lead to BSOD errors.
  2. Driver Compatibility: Since you mentioned difficulties in finding compatible drivers for Windows 7 on your Dell Vostro 1400, driver incompatibility could be a likely cause of the BSOD.

It's essential to ensure your laptop has a stable power source during system start-ups to avoid any disruptions that could lead to BSOD errors.

    Steps to Resolve BSOD Issues:

  3. Update Drivers: Ensure all your drivers are up-to-date and compatible with Windows 7 64-bit. Visit the Dell support website and download the latest drivers for your specific model.
  4. Check System Health: Since your machine flags a battery problem, it's imperative to address it. If the battery is failing, it could lead to power disruptions causing system instability. Consider replacing the battery if necessary.
  5. Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your Windows installation is up-to-date with the latest patches and updates. Sometimes, BSOD issues can be resolved through system updates.
  6. Run System Diagnostics: Use built-in tools like the Windows Memory Diagnostic or Dell Diagnostics to check your system's hardware for any issues.

    Additional Information Needed:

    • It would be helpful to know the specific error code or message displayed on the BSOD screen. This information can provide more insight into the root cause of the problem.
    • You mentioned attaching required info with your post. If you have any specific error logs or dump files related to the BSOD, examining those can help in diagnosing the issue further.
Addressing these steps should help in resolving the BSOD problem on your Dell Vostro 1400. If you encounter any specific error messages or codes, feel free to share them for a more targeted resolution.
