Hi to all,
i have a windows 2003 active directory server and i configured the group policy setting "Remove user folder link from Start Menu" to enabled

This policy works correctly in the windows xp clients but doesn't work in the windows 7 clients; in the windows 7 clients i have yet the link to the user's folder in the start menu

Why? I have to do some additional configuration for windows 7 client?

Thanks

It seems like you are facing an issue with Group Policy settings not applying as expected on Windows 7 clients, specifically the setting "Remove user folder link from Start Menu." Here are some steps to troubleshoot this issue: 1. Update Group Policy on Windows 7 Clients: - Ensure that the Group Policy settings are being applied correctly on the Windows 7 clients. You can force a Group Policy update on a Windows 7 client by running the command gpupdate /force in the Command Prompt with administrative privileges. 2. Check Group Policy Results: - Use the Group Policy Results tool to check if the policy is being applied to the Windows 7 clients. This tool provides detailed information on applied policies and any errors...

Compatibility of Group Policy Settings: - Verify that the Group Policy setting "Remove user folder link from Start Menu" is compatible with Windows 7. Some policies might behave differently across different Windows versions, and there could be specific settings for Windows 7 clients. 4. Group Policy Preferences: - If the policy is still not applying as expected, consider using Group Policy Preferences. Preferences offer more flexibility and control over settings compared to traditional Group Policy settings. 5. Client-Side Extensions: - Ensure that the Group Policy client-side extensions are up to date on the Windows 7 clients. This helps in ensuring that the clients can properly process and apply the Group Policy settings. 6. Logon Scripts: - If necessary, you can also consider using logon scripts to customize the Start Menu on Windows 7 clients. Logon scripts can be used to modify settings and configurations during the user logon process. By following these steps, you can troubleshoot the issue with the Group Policy setting not applying correctly on Windows 7 clients. If you continue to experience difficulties, further investigation into the specific configuration details and Group Policy application process may be necessary.
