Re: AMD Catalyst 10.11

Personally I think the 10.12 release is a spectacular fail but please guy's let's discuss it in a more appropriate section. This section is really for 'Driver Updates' and not discussion.
Thankyou.

The Catalyst 10.12 OFFICIAL PREVIEW (not final yet) is here:

AMD Game Downloads

As expected, AMD has let loose the Catalyst 10.12 driver for both desktop and mobile cards, and also delivered a preview driver that includes the new CCC (Catalyst Control Centre) featuring a reworked (resizable) interface for easier navigation and use.
The Catalyst 10.12 for desktop cards includes support for the Radeon HD 2000, HD 3000, HD 4000, HD 5000 and HD 6800 series models and the Radeon HD 3000 and HD 4000 series IGPs. The release notes are currently missing.
Both the 'regular' and the CCC2-enhanced Catalyst 10.12 are available for download here . Please note that the preview driver with the new CCC comes in two packages, one for Windows Vista and one for Windows 7 (CCC2 does not work on Windows XP). We'll add the driver to our Downloads section as soon as possible.

Thanks to Highwayman for trying and confirming the old reg fix works. To enable Morphological Antialiasing for ATI 5000 series, use the reg tweak I posted for the previous version:

(don't forget to use Driver Sweeper each time between the reinstalls)

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000]
"MLF_NA"="0"
"SurfaceFormatReplacements_NA"="0"
"TFQ_NA"="0"

Save it as MLAA.reg, click to run and apply. Don't forget to reboot for the changes to take effect.

Link Removed due to 404 Error - personally tested on Catalyst 10.12, 10.11, 10.10 in Windows 7 x64. Will most likely work on future Catalyst versions as well. Enjoy!

Re: AMD Catalyst 10.11

True enough, Nvidia missed Christmas day because it has problems riding alongside someone wearing red, but it's making up for that this week with the stealthy roll-out of the GeForce 263.14 driver which is dated December 12 and has WHQL certification.
The 263.14 features support for GeForce 6, 7, 8, 9, 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 series desktop cards, ION GPUs, nForce IGPs, and various Quadro professional cards, and is bundled with the PhysX System Software v9.10.0514, the HD Audio driver v1.1.12.1 and the 3D Vision driver v263.14.

To download the GeForce 263.14 just see the Downloads section (files courtesy of Gainward).

Re: AMD Catalyst 10.11

This driver is not on the Nvidia page yet as I just checked under downloads using IE 8 where Nvidia checks my system it says 260. I also checked Manually and 260.99 is latest except for Betas listed at Nvidia

Re: AMD Catalyst 10.11

That is correct. The driver is being provided by Gainward.

Re: AMD Catalyst 10.11

Nvidia has released the Beta 266.35 graphics driver for Windows XP, Vista and 7. This driver is for GeForce 6 and higher desktop cards. It improves performance for the GeForce 400 and 500 series in several games, adds Ambient Occlusion support for StarCraft 2, has a range of 3D Vision, Surround and SLI improvements, and contains bug fixes. The driver package also contains the 9.10.0514 PhysX drivers.

AMD Catalyst 11.1a Hot-Fix Driver Information

AMD sent us a press release on the upcoming Catalyst Hot-Fix 11.1a Drivers. We spoke to the folks at AMD directly and they said these drivers will be publicly available on January 26th:

The latest Catalyst Hot-Fix; (11.1a) offers increased performance brings a slew of new features and should be the driver used for any performance testing. Below are a few of the highlights from this driver:

Performance improvements for the AMD Radeon HD 6800 & HD 6900 series include but not limited to:

AMD Radeon HD 6900 and AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series:

·3DMark Vantage improves ~7%
·3DMark06 improves ~3%
·Call of Duty Black Ops improves ~20% at 4xMSAA and up to 35% at 8xMSAA
·Riddick Assault on Dark Athena SSAO performance improves ~20%
·Unigine Heaven OpenGL performance improves ~10% at moderate, 30% at normal and 100% at extreme tessellation levels
·Aliens vs. Predators improves ~9% at 2xMSAA and up to 20% at 4xMSAA
·Batman Arkham Asylum improves ~4%
·Crysis Warhead improves ~2-4%
·Metro 2033 improves ~28% at 4xMSAA

The Catalyst Control Center includes an early prototype of some new tessellation controls. Our goal is to give users full control over the tessellation levels used in applications. The default selection "AMD Optimized" setting allows AMD, on a per application basis, to set the best level of tessellation. The intention is to help users get the maximum visual benefit of Tessellation, while minimizing the impact on performance. Currently no applications have been profiled, so the "AMD Optimized" setting will be non-operational until further notice.

The "Use Application Settings" option gives applications full control over the Tessellation level. Users can also manually set the maximum tessellation level used by applications with the slider control

The long term goal for the "AMD Optimized" setting is to use the Catalyst Application Profile mechanism to control the AMD recommended level of tessellation on a per application basis. AMD’s intention is to set the tessellation level such that we will not be reducing image quality in any way that would negatively impact the gaming experience.

Here are some additional details for AMD Radeon driver users who are looking for the latest release. I was a bit confused myself by these different drivers.

11.1a which Ross posted about Link Removed - Invalid URL is actually newer than the 11.1 WHQL release. The filesize for the 64-bit setup executable is 104 MB (110,086,856 bytes) with a MD5 of eaa6d894747b7f32802ba4d63a87517d.

The 11.1 release is older. It does not contain the Tessellation slider and some performance improvements are not present. The filesize of the 64-bit setup executable is 91.5 MB (96,023,512 bytes). The MD5 here is 4c7ce5c1db3f13d71c1fc1abdc089701.

I wanted to clear this up, since Guru3D only mentions 11.1a at the very bottom of a quite long announcement regarding these drivers and this thread shows 11.1a first, implying that driver may be older than 11.1 when it is not.

Don't try to enable "Tessalation_NA"="0" in the WHQL version, the option is simply not there. Use 11.1a Jan26 instead, it's all there without tweaks. : )

Edit:

One tweak you may wanna use though, which is applicable to both 11.1 WHQL and 11.1a Hotfix:

Standard.PNG
View attachment Standard.zip

With this tweak you get the antialiaing filters (Standard and Edge-Detect) just like in ATI 6000 series.

Code:
[B]Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[/B]
[B][HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000\UMD][/B]
[B]"AAF_Value_SET"="Standard:0,Edge-detect:3"[/B]
[B]"AAF_Mapping_SET"="0(Standard:2,Edge-detect:12) 2(Standard:2) 4(Standard:4,Edge-detect:12) 8(Standard:8,Edge-detect:24) 16(Standard:16)"[/B]

Copy-paste to notepad and save as Link Removed - Invalid URL. Then run it, confirm the registry changes, and reboot.

Enjoy. : - )
