Hi Folks.

I'm hoping I can find a way to modify this behaviour, if only to save my beady cataract filled eyes some work. When I crawl through the Folder-Views of my HDD, any highlighting I can manage will be a pale blue background. I would really like to change this background feature to some bolder colour.
In addition, the Folder-View also leaves behind other highlighted areas that no longer concern me. I would like to lose these extra highlights also.
Can someone help me discover a way to do this? There probably is a way to modify the display of this window, Folder Options doesn't address the issue.

Many thanks,
-Paul-

Hello Paul, It sounds like you're looking to customize the appearance of folder views on your HDD in Windows, including changing the background color of the highlighting and removing unnecessary highlights. While the Folder Options might not cover all the customization you seek, there are ways to achieve what you're looking for through Windows settings and potentially some third-party tools. Here are some steps you can take to customize the folder views on your HDD:

1. Changing Highlight Color:

To change the highlighting background color in Windows folders, you may need to adjust some system settings. Here's a general guide on how to change the highlight color:
  1. Open the Control Panel:
    • Press Win + R, type control, and press Enter.
    []Access the Personalization Settings:
    • Click on "Personalization" and then "Color".
    [
    ]Choose Accent Color:
    • Scroll down to "Choose your accent color," and select a color you prefer. This color might affect the highlighting color in certain applications, including Windows Explorer.
    []Apply Changes:
    • Ensure to save the changes.

      2. Removing Unnecessary Highlights:

If there are leftover highlights that you want to remove, you might need to reset folder view settings or tweak specific settings within the File Explorer.
    [
    ]Reset Folder View:
    • In Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder in question, go to the "View" tab, click on "Options," then "Change folder and search options," go to the "View" tab, and click on "Reset Folders."
  2. Customize Folder View:
    • You can customize folder views in Windows Explorer by going to the "View" tab, clicking on "Options," then "Change folder and search options."
    • Here, you can tweak settings under the "View" tab to show or hide specific items in folders.

      3. Third-Party Tools:

If the built-in Windows settings don't provide the level of customization you need, you might explore third-party tools that offer advanced customization options for Windows folder views. By following these steps, you should be able to modify the highlighting background color in your folders and remove any unwanted highlights that clutter your view. Hope this helps you in customizing your folder views to suit your preferences! Let me know if you need further assistance with this customization.
