I'm stuck with computers that I've upgraded to windows 7 and connected them with wires to the network. They come up with unidentified Network (Public network). I want this to change to home network so I can share file with the other computers. All my computers in the house have manually asighned IP Adresses.

As for this unidentified Network (Public network) is there anyway to just pull that option out of the OS or delete it, Why do we need it, it just causes problems.

Solution
To change your network type from "Unidentified Network (Public network)" to "Home network" in Windows 7, follow these steps: 1. Open Network and Sharing Center: - Click on the network icon in the system tray (bottom right corner of your screen). - Select "Open Network and Sharing Center." 2. Change Network Type: - In the Network and Sharing Center, you will see your active network connection. It should say "Unidentified network" or "Public network." - Click on the network type (such as "Public network"). - A popup will appear with network location types. - Select "Home network" and click on it to change the network type. 3. By changing the network type to "Home network," Windows will allow you to share files and resources with other computers on the network more easily. Regarding your question about removing the "Unidentified Network (Public network)" option from the OS or deleting it, it's not recommended to remove this option entirely as it serves a purpose in distinguishing between different types of networks for security and sharing purposes. Public networks have more restrictive settings to help protect your computer from unauthorized access. By properly setting your network to "Home network," you can enjoy the benefits of file sharing and easier network access among your computers while maintaining security. If you encounter any issues during this process or if you have any other questions, feel free to ask for further assistance.
