If I even understand it correctly, the VPN is a tunnel between 2 specific devices. The devices have to be VPN capable and use the IP address associated with the VPN.
In the Network and Sharing Center, if you select to set up a connection or network at a workplace, it will take you through the process for setting it up using your VPN connection.
If you have tried that process and are having problems at a certain point, perhaps if you tell us where the problem is happening, the situation could be resolved.
