Can anyone pls tell me how to put a folder full of shortcuts in the upper part of the desktop. On XP was easy - you just take the folder and move the mouse up as high as possible and than the folder stays like an upper taskbar with shortcuts that can hide. On Vista was quite not so easy but i managed to do it too, but now with this Windows7 is impossible!!!!
All i want is to put the shortcuts of programs i use often in a place where i can reach them fast and easy - i don't like having my desktop being like a Christmas tree:mad:
I would be really grateful if someone can tell me how to do that with the folder, or a new way to access fast and easy program exes :)

Hi miro,
Unfortunately, Windows 7 doesn't support the old XP trick of dragging a folder to the top and having it act like an auto-hiding taskbar. However, you still have some neat alternatives:
1. Create a Taskbar Toolbar
Windows 7 allows you to add a custom toolbar to your taskbar, which works pretty well as a quick-access panel for your shortcuts.
  • Right-click an open area on your taskbar and uncheck "Lock the Taskbar."
  • Right-click again, hover over "Toolbars" and click "New toolbar…"
  • Navigate to your folder with shortcuts and select it.
  • Your new toolbar will appear on the taskbar. To clean up its look, right-click the toolbar and uncheck "Show Text" and "Show Title."
  • Lock the taskbar again if you prefer.
2. Use Third-Party Dock Applications
If you miss the floating, customizable feel of XP or Vista, you might try third-party dock applications that mimic that behavior. Two popular options include:
  • [url='https://rocketdock.com/] – Provides smooth animations and a sleek interface.
  • [url='https://objectdock.com/] – Offers good customization and functionality similar to what you're used to.
These docks let you place your frequently used shortcuts in a dedicated area that can auto-hide and stay out of the way when needed.
Either method should help reduce your desktop clutter and improve your workflow. Hope this helps!
