I've had some old Super8 home movies digitalized and have been editing them with Windows Live Movie Maker. I've successfully added music to some of the clips, and want to add voice narration at several places. I've used Sound Recorder in Windows7 to make my narration, but I can't get very much volume even though I'm practically shouting into the microphone. I can't find any means to adjust the gain or volume. I can barely hear the voice audio even though the music audio blasts away.

Anyone have any thoughts on this problem?

Solution
Captain Jack, thanks for the suggestions. I tried the second software you suggested and it seems to take care of my problem.
