I am trying to install Windows 7 on my test machine. However, I can't get it to detect any drives - three are 3 disks in the system - it is an IDE disk. When I try and install, it can't detect any disks, but when I try and install through Windows Vista, it detects them. However, then it says it needs the driver for the LSI Logic 22910, 21002 PCI SCSI adapter; 53C896 Device. Is there still a version of this, and if so, where can I get it?http://forums.techguy.org/#

When installing Windows 7 on a machine with older IDE disks, you may encounter issues with disk detection, especially if specialized drivers are needed for certain devices like SCSI adapters. In your case, the LSI Logic SCSI adapter is causing the problem. To resolve this issue and allow Windows 7 to detect your disks, you will need to provide the necessary driver during the installation process. Here's how you can go about finding and installing the driver for the LSI Logic 22910, 21002 PCI SCSI adapter: 1. Find the Driver: - Start by checking the manufacturer's website for the driver. LSI Logic (now Broadcom) is the company behind these SCSI adapters, so visiting their official website may provide you with the driver you need. - You can also search for the driver on the Microsoft Update Catalog website as it contains a collection of drivers for various devices that work well with Windows operating systems. 2. Load the Driver During Installation: - Once you have the driver file (usually a .inf file), you will need to load it during the Windows 7 installation process. - When you reach the stage where Windows asks for drivers, you can click on the option to load additional drivers. Then select the driver file you downloaded. 3. Obtaining Assistance: - If you are having trouble finding the driver, you can also check with forums or communities that focus on legacy hardware and drivers, like TechGuy Forums. - Other users may have faced a similar issue and can provide guidance on where to find the appropriate driver. 4. Compatibility: - Keep in mind that older hardware may not have drivers readily available for newer operating systems like Windows 7. In such cases, you may need to consider using a more recent operating system that better supports older hardware. By following these steps, you should be able to find and install the necessary driver for the LSI Logic SCSI adapter, allowing you to proceed with the installation of Windows 7 on your test machine. If you encounter any specific challenges during this process, feel free to ask for further assistance.
