When it comes to upgrading RAM on a motherboard, the chipset plays a crucial role in determining the maximum amount of RAM that can be installed. The Intel 955X chipset and its variant, the i955X chipset, do have differences in terms of memory support. Here's some information to clarify the confusion: 1. Intel 955X Chipset Overview: - The Intel 955X chipset is an older chipset designed for Intel processors. - It supports DDR2 memory and has a maximum memory capacity that it can address. 2. Memory Support: - The Intel 955X chipset typically supports up to 8 GB of RAM. - It's essential to check the motherboard's specifications as manufacturers sometimes limit the maximum supported RAM for stability reasons. 3.
