Hello everyone, here's my problem:

everytime i leave the computer idle for a certain amount of time the internet connection shuts down. I have looked in all the usual places (the connection properties, the energy options) but nothing seems to be wrong! Yet it always happens wich i find extremely annoying.

My internet connection is through a wireless USB modem, the Huawei E220.

It seems like your issue with the internet connection shutting down when the computer is idle might be related to power-saving settings or other configurations. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue: 1. Power Management Settings: - Open Device Manager by pressing Win + X and selecting "Device Manager." - Locate your wireless USB modem (Huawei E220) under "Network adapters." - Right-click on it and select "Properties." - Go to the "Power Management" tab and ensure that the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked. 2. USB Selective Suspend Setting: - Sometimes, USB power management settings can affect devices like your wireless USB modem. Disable USB selective suspend: - Go to Power Options by searching for it in the Start menu. - Click on "Change plan settings" next to your active power plan. - Click on "Change advanced power settings." - Expand "USB settings" and "USB selective suspend setting." Set both options to "Disabled." 3. Network Adapter Settings: - Check the network adapter settings to ensure that it is not set to disable to save power: - Go to Network and Sharing Center. - Click on "Change adapter settings" on the left side. - Right-click on your wireless adapter and select "Properties." - Look for settings related to power management and disable any option that allows the computer to turn off the device to save power. 4. Update Drivers: - Ensure you have the latest drivers for your Huawei E220 modem. Visit the manufacturer's website to download and install the latest drivers for your modem. 5. Scheduled Tasks or Updates: - Check if there are any scheduled tasks, such as system updates or maintenance tasks, that might be affecting the connection when the computer is idle. 6. Network Troubleshooter: - Run the built-in network troubleshooter: - Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot. - Select "Internet Connections" and run the troubleshooter to see if it identifies any issues. By following these steps, you may be able to identify and fix the issue causing your internet connection to shut down when the computer is idle.
