Re: Itunes 8.0

According to a report from Fudzilla many are reporting problems with Itunes 8.0.
I'll copy & paste the report here:

There is evidence that Apple's digital jukebox breaks Microsoft Vista and creates a blue screen of death after punters connect their iPods and iPhones.

According to various forums the problem only seems to happen in Vista, although sometimes ITunes 8 causes CD/DVD drives to "disappear." The work around is to remove other USB devices, such as Webcams and printers and it would appear that ITunes 8 is incompatable with USB products from LogicTech and HP, as well as disk-burning software from Roxio.

Apple, of course, are denying everything or rather not commenting on any problems. However it is getting fairly clear that Itunes is getting a bit bloated and Apple needs to go for a total redesign rather than trying to add more things on with don’t work with other bits of it.

Re: Itunes 8.1

iTunes has always been a mixed bag for me. On one hand it's a convenient way of managing music, movies, iPhone apps, TV shows, etc., and on the other hand it's been a fat, bloated pig of an application. If you buy content from the iTunes store it's been a necessary evil for years and Apple, until now, has not seemed to bother with trying to make it faster and less clunky.

Re: Itunes 8.1

I've never had the misfortune of using it... But i guess whilst Apple has a kind of monopoly on this type of thing then I can't see it improving any time soon.

Apple has released version 9.2 of its popular iTunes media player for Mac OS X and Windows.

The latest version includes a number of enhancements and new features. It now supports synchronisation with the iPhone 4, due for release on the 24th of June, the iOS 4 operating system, due for release on the 21st of June, and the forthcoming iBooks 1.1 application. PDF documents will in future be filed as books and backups with iTunes 9.2 and iOS4 will be faster. CD covers will also be displayed more quickly when browsing the music library.

The update fixes 40 security vulnerabilities, 38 of them in WebKit, that can be exploited to inject and execute code on a users system. Apple last week fixed the same vulnerabilities, plus a few extra, in Safari 4.1 and 5, which was included in the latest 10.6.4 update for Mac OS X.

iTunes is available to download for Windows (32 and 64-bit) and Mac OS X 10.4.11 or later, weighing in at between 93 and 102 MB.
