The anti-malware app Malwarebytes has recently been updated to 2.1.4:

Issues Fixed

• Admin users should no longer see a prompt to login as admin to perform a program upgrade
• Fixed issue where the web protection service (MWAC) was not restarting properly
• Fixed numerous issues with scheduled scans, including showing the correct date for “Next scheduled scan” on the dashboard
• Fixed issue where mbamscheduler was starting on boot when Malwarebytes Anti-Malware was set not to start with Windows
• Fixed issue where any non-English language selected during installation would not be applied after installation
• Fixed issue where Malwarebytes Anti-Malware did not always automatically update the database on installation
• Fixed issue where the “Delay Protection at startup for 15 seconds” setting showed as enabled, but was actually disabled. (We recommend reviewing this option to ensure it is configured as you intended.)
• Fixed issue where "Error Code 6" displayed at the end of scans
• Fixed issue on Windows XP where scheduled scans on reboot would not start if the "Enable self-protection module" was checked
• Malwarebytes Anti-Malware now honors self-protection settings detected from a previous installation
• Fixed issue where context menu scan was not honoring user selection under detection and protection setting
• Several issues with notification were fixed
• Several enhancements were made to the user interface to address accessibility issues
• Several UI and user experience enhancements implemented

Improvements

• Updated user interface design that showcases a much cleaner look and toned-down color scheme
• Improved scan flow so all scans now automatically check for and apply the latest database updates
• Simplified quarantine flow so only one action button is presented when threats are detected
• Several improvements to malware detection and remediation capabilities, including enhanced detection and removal of rootkits
• The Minimize button now minimizes the main program window to the taskbar instead of to the tray
• The default display timeout for notifications was changed to 3 seconds instead of 7 seconds
• The default value for "Show notification after successful update" is now set to "Off" for all scheduled updates
• Removed informational/marketing message from main dashboard view
• Removed support for Thai language due to quality issues with the translation
• Installation of a Consumer/Home version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware over a Business version is now blocked

• Fixed SDK database load errors by making a change to temporarily ignore the "Check for updates before scanning" setting for Scheduled Scans

• Fixed issue where the "Restart computer when required for threat removal" setting did not appear correctly on Add or Edit Schedule dialogs

Malwarebytes 3.0 Known Issues
December, 2016

• If you are running an earlier Alpha or Beta, and your upgrade to Malwarebytes 3.0 fails for any reason, simply uninstall the earlier version and then reinstall new version.
• Occasionally, after installing, the user will see a “protection layer is off” warning while the protection is being or has already been automatically turned on.
• Occasionally, after installing, the user could see a “failure to connect to service” error, usually a reboot or rerunning the installer will correct the failure.
• Microsoft Security Essentials running alongside Malwarebytes 3.0 might cause system lockdowns under Windows 7 due to a buggy Microsoft update.
• Some translated strings may still appear in English.
• Clicking some of the help “?”s throughout Malwarebytes currently does not do anything.
• Some Windows Insider Preview builds blue-screen at Malwarebytes 3.0's Web Protection.
• Custom Scan options are not persisted for subsequent scans.
• If Malwarebytes 3.0 is closed, a context menu scan does not open up to scan page.
• New scans don't reset "Threats Quarantined" counter on Scan Summary page.
• The correct date and time format is not enforced when adding or editing a scheduled scan.
• Web protection can take a long time to start in Windows XP after upgrade from 2.x.
• Custom anti-exploit shields are not enabled by default.
• Website block notification appears multiple times on Windows XP.
• Windows Vista: Post Expiration Notification for manual renewal appears after each reboot.
• On Windows XP selecting a folder in Exclusions does not actually allow selecting a folder.
• Currently allowed to add a Domain Exclusion on Windows XP but since this is not supported it will be ignored.
• There may be some quirky behavior when resizing the user interface.
• Some dialogs are improperly formatted with high DPI settings.
• Any User Access Policy created in MBAM 2.x is not migrated when upgrading from MBAM 2.x to Malwarebytes 3.0; a new policy will have to be created.
• Malwarebytes 3.0 Installation can fail if installed from an imdisk virtual disk.

Many of the above issues have been addressed apart from the second one down (highlighted). User will reboot and see a message that Malwarebytes has protection turned off. (which isn't).

Malwarebytes are aware of this issue and a patch is due for release soon. The last patch was supposed to address the issue but didn't work for everyone. The Malwarebytes team are beavering away trying to find that fix rest assured:
