Hold down the CNTL key while resizing with your mouse. It will switch back.

Media Center now resizes to wide screen

Thank you for this tip. The screen resized to wide screen but the channel up and down arrows are still missing (on the left) when the window is 'small' (3-4 inches). I have to enlarge the window to 6 inches or more to get these controls to reappear. They were always there originally. Any idea?

I honestly never noticed that before. It does the same thing in Vista, however and I checked two installs.
