Microsoft Word

Well, seems that a Federal Court has upheld the original decision that Microsoft is infringing on the patents held by another company with Microsoft Word. While Microsoft attempted to fight the implementation of this decision claiming irreparable damage, now states "no problem, We will have a modified Word ready for shipping prior to the January 2010 deadline." This simple and quick solution certainly refutes their earlier claim of irreparable damage if original judgement were to be implemented.

Don't forget the endless appeal process and MS definitely has the $ to continue.

Yes, indeed you are correct; however if Microsoft intended to continue the appeal process of the injunction itself, they have kinda crippled themselves by stating that they will have a legal version ready to ship to customers by January 11, 2010. They quite possibly will continue to contest the decision itself (that they are violating the patent of another) until they bleed the rightful patent holders' bank account dry.
