Windows 10 Moving windows from an old pc to a new one

Hello I am looking to build my own computer soon and have an old laptop that is never used. I was wondering if it is possible to take windows off the old laptop and put it onto the new computer. Thanks for any help
 
Solution
If it's the copy of Windows that came with the laptop then the answer is no. These are generally OEM licenses and they are not legally transferable. Also if it's Windows 7 or older it will not run on newer hardware since there isn't driver support typically.

and it wouldnt work if i booted the new pc off the drive in my laptop?
