Windows 7 Multiple BSODs

Hi All,

I could do with some help with my Windows 7 install as for some unknown reason I'm getting a wide variety of BSODs on a very very regular basis.

My system is made up from:
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2 GHz Socket AM3 8MB Cache Processor
ASUS M4A78T-E 790GX Socket AM3 onboard VGA DVI HDMI 8 channel audio ATX Motherboard
Corsair 8GB (4x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz/PC3-10666 XMS3 DHX Memory
Samsung EcoGreen F2 1.5TB Hard Drive SATAII 5400rpm 32MB Cache
All in 1 Internal Card Reader Plus One USB2.0 Port Black - 3.5" Bay
Coolermaster RealPower 520W Modular PSU

And is a custom build.

I've used Blue Screen Viewer to get a basic overview of all my BSODs and also attached the DMPs:
View attachment output.txt
View attachment DMPs.zip

As you will notice there's a lot, apart from Memory_Management there isn't really any re-occurring ones, they all seem a bit random.
There's no one program or action that causes it to blue screen and there has been the odd period where it will run fine for a few days and then will just get a flurry.

To give some more background, I've run a memtest86+ which passed. I've also run windows update (which had nothing to install) and I've updated the BIOS.

The early problems I also encountered was a bad bios checksum and the BIOS being regularly dropped from the board - this has now stopped.

Where I'm stuck is I don't really know where to start testing or what the problem is....

Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance

Hello and Welcome to W7F !

There are few crashes pointing to AVG. I would highly recommend to uninstall AVG and use the removal tool
Link Removed due to 404 Error orLink Removed due to 404 ErrorLink Removed due to 404 Error

Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker - Windows 7 Forums

Update the Chipset drivers i.e Motherboard drives i.e. VIA drivers

Update the following Drivers:

Code:
ASACPI.sys Mon Mar 28 08:00:36 2005
pcouffin.sys Tue Dec 05 20:09:30 2006
PxHlpa64.sys Tue Dec 11 05:19:01 2007
adfs.SYS Fri Jun 27 02:22:37 2008

For ASACPI.sys here is the link Link Removed due to 404 Error

Code:
UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (7f)
This means a trap occurred in kernel mode, and it's a trap of a kind
that the kernel isn't allowed to have/catch (bound trap) or that
is always instant death (double fault). The first number in the
bugcheck params is the number of the trap (8 = double fault, etc)
Consult an Intel x86 family manual to learn more about what these
traps are. Here is a *portion* of those codes:
If kv shows a taskGate
use .tss on the part before the colon, then kv.
Else if kv shows a trapframe
        use .trap on that value
Else
.trap on the appropriate frame will show where the trap was taken
(on x86, this will be the ebp that goes with the procedure KiTrap)
Endif
kb will then show the corrected stack.

Thanks Captain,

I've downloaded the latest drivers from asus for the motherboard including the chipset, audio and Ethernet drivers.

I have also installed the ASACPI.sys driver.

But unfortunately am still getting blue screens

View attachment New DMPs.zip

I may have narrowed the problem down further though. I noticed after a few of the blue screens the boot completely failed. This evening I couldn't even get the computer to boot. So I unplugged the HDD to see if this made any difference but still the PC wasn't even booting past the BIOS....

Eventually it did and with the HDD unplugged I obviously got the 'boot device not found error' but it just seemed a little odd that it wouldn't boot past the BIOS - thoughts?

I'm hoping this will help me rule out the HDD as a source of the problem and also indicates that its a hardware issue or am I barking up the wrong tree?

I also ran the SFC scan which reported no errors.

What would cause the PC not to boot past the BIOS? I'm thinking either faulty PSU or fault Motherboard - what you reckon?

Thanks in advance

I may have narrowed the problem down further though. I noticed after a few of the blue screens the boot completely failed. This evening I couldn't even get the computer to boot. So I unplugged the HDD to see if this made any difference but still the PC wasn't even booting past the BIOS....

Eventually it did and with the HDD unplugged I obviously got the 'boot device not found error' but it just seemed a little odd that it wouldn't boot past the BIOS - thoughts?

Plug it back in and load setup defaults in the bios setup.

Hi All,

Thought I would keep everyone upto date with the situation.

After numerous BIOS Updates, driver updates and tests I will still getting a lot of BSODs. It seemed to get worse the more I did so for a couple days I couldn't even boot and the the BIOS just kept getting dropped.

So I ordered, received and fitted a new motherboard - problems solved.

Everything is now back working as normal.
