Does it happen with all programs or just one? What program are you trying to open?

I would contact the person/organisation from which you downloaded - looks like there may be a file corruption problem.

Extremely unlikely - file corruption is a data error within the file - possibly corrupted at origin or during downloading - either way there is nothing you can do to recover it.

Right - sounds loike your user account needed admin rights - you may also have been able to install it by right clicking on the program and selecting "run as administrator".
