I have been trying to install the x86 RC version on my Netbook, a Vye S18.
It went through the installation and various reboots until it said it was finished but now just hangs during the final reboot. I've tried safe mode, VGA 640, boot to command prompt - same thing. It does the Win7 logo and displays Starting Windows, there's a lot of disk activity then it stops. There's no mouse cursor by the way.
I tried with logging on and there's nothing obvious from the logs. There are lots of lines like this in it:
and these are the last few lines:
Is there anything else I can do during booting or install to try and diagnose the issue? I am assuming its a hardware or driver issue.
I've successfully installed on several other desktops and laptops so the image is good. its just this one giving the problem.

It seems like you're encountering a boot issue with your Netbook, Vye S18, after installing the x86 RC version of Windows. The fact that the installation completes but the system hangs during the final reboot points towards a potential hardware or driver issue. Here are some steps you can try to diagnose and potentially resolve the problem:
Diagnostic Steps During Booting or Installation:
- Safe Mode with Networking: Try booting into Safe Mode with Networking to see if the system can start up in a basic state with only essential drivers loaded.
- Last Known Good Configuration: During bootup, you can try selecting the "Last Known Good Configuration" option from the boot menu. This can revert your system settings to the last known working configuration.
- System Restore: If possible, you can perform a System Restore to roll back your system to a point before the installation. This can help undo any changes causing the boot issue.
- Driver Verification: If you suspect a driver issue, you can try to verify the drivers loaded during boot. This can be done using the Driver Verifier tool in Windows.
- Check Device Manager: If possible, check the Device Manager for any devices showing errors or conflicts. This can give you a clue about problematic hardware or drivers.
- Windows Event Viewer: Check the Windows Event Viewer for any error messages or warnings that might provide more information on what's causing the system to hang during boot.
Additional Suggestions:
- BIOS Update: Ensure that your BIOS is up to date. Sometimes, outdated BIOS versions can cause compatibility issues with newer operating systems.
- Hardware Check: Perform a hardware check on your Netbook to rule out any underlying hardware problems that might be causing the boot issue.
- Driver Updates: If you can boot into Safe Mode, try updating your drivers—especially graphics, chipset, and network drivers—to the latest versions compatible with Windows 7.
- Compatibility Mode: Try running the installation in compatibility mode or with different settings to see if it helps with the boot issue. By following these steps, you may be able to pinpoint the root cause of the boot problem on your Netbook and take appropriate action to resolve it. If you need further assistance with any of these steps or encounter any specific errors, feel free to provide more details for tailored assistance.
