ok so we have 2 laptops, both win 7, and a pc that has vista. our computer can see all the shared folders and access them, but our laptops cannot access our vista computer. It can see it, but when you click on it we get an error saying windows can't access\\(pc name)pc. We have tried so many things I don't even know where to begin. Any ideas on how to solve this?

Please try removing any third party programs on the Vista PC that might be misinterpreting the file sharing for a network intrusion. Third party firewalls, like Komodo or Zone Alarm and third party internet security suites like Norton or McAfee, etc. and see if your issue goes away. You can reinstall them later after the networking issue is resolved. Don't bother trying to turn them off, or disable them, just uninstall and see what happens. Most of the big AV vendors have a proprietary uninstaller which you can download from their respective websites.

ok that doesn't seem to work. the firewall on the vista is turned off, it can see the win 7 and take things/give things to that pc but the win7 cant even access the vista. it still says it can't access. doesn't give me the option to enter the user id or password for the vista pc.
