Hi all,

I have a ps3 and use ftp to transfer files.
I normally have my ps3 connected into my mpdem/router and it works but is slow.
I got a gigabit ethernet pcmia card and connected the ps3 to it.
When i go to network settings on the ps3 it does not find an ip address.
My operating system is windows 7 64 bit.
To i have to change any other network settings on my pc?
Hoping someone can please help me.

It seems like you are facing connectivity issues when trying to connect your PS3 to your Windows 7 PC via a gigabit Ethernet PCMCIA card. The lack of an IP address on the PS3 indicates a network configuration issue that needs to be resolved. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot and potentially fix this problem:

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Check Ethernet Connection:
    • Ensure that the Ethernet cable is securely connected to both the PS3 and the PC with the gigabit Ethernet PCMCIA card.
[]Verify Network Settings on Windows 7:
    • Check if the gigabit Ethernet PCMCIA card is recognized by Windows 7.
    • Go to "Control Panel" -> "Network and Sharing Center" -> "Change adapter settings."...

    • Go to "Control Panel" -> "Network and Sharing Center" -> "Change adapter settings."
    • Locate the gigabit Ethernet connection, right-click, and choose "Properties."
    • Make sure that the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) is enabled and set to obtain an IP address automatically.
    [
    ]Set Up Internet Connection Sharing:
    • If you want your PC to act as a bridge between the PS3 and the internet, you can set up Internet Connection Sharing.
    • Right-click on the network connection that has internet access (e.g., your Wi-Fi or broadband connection) -> "Properties" -> "Sharing" tab -> Check the box for "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection."
    []Configure Network Settings on PS3:
    • On your PS3, go to "Settings" -> "Network Settings" -> "Internet Connection Settings."
    • Choose the wired connection method and select "Custom."
    • For IP Address Settings, choose "Automatic" to let the PS3 obtain an IP address automatically.
    • For DNS settings, choose "Automatic."
    [
    ]Restart Devices:
    • Restart both your PC and the PS3 after making any changes to ensure that the settings are applied correctly.
  2. Test the Connection:
    • After configuring the settings, run a network test on your PS3 to check if it can now obtain an IP address and connect to the network successfully. If you follow these steps and still encounter issues, you may need to delve further into the network configuration settings or seek additional help to troubleshoot the problem effectively.
