Today Does Not Circulate: New Vehicle Restrictions in CDMX and Edomex for March 10, 2025

In an ongoing effort to reduce pollution and protect the environment, authorities in Mexico City (CDMX) and the State of Mexico (Edomex) have announced new restrictions on vehicle circulation. Scheduled for Monday, March 10, 2025, the program—commonly referred to as “Today Does Not Circulate”—targets specific vehicles to ease traffic congestion and lower emissions across the region.

Who Is Affected?

The restrictions apply to vehicles that meet the following criteria:
  • Plate Terminator: Vehicles with license plates ending in 5 and 6.
  • Hologram Category: Vehicles displaying holograms 1 and 2.
  • Additional Marking: Those exhibiting yellow gum on their windshields.
These measures are enforced during the hours of 05:00 to 22:00.

Where Does It Apply?

The circulation restrictions are not limited to CDMX only. In addition to the capital, the program extends to several municipalities in the State of Mexico, including:
  • Atizapán de Zaragoza
  • Coacalco de Berriozábal
  • Cuautitlán
  • Cuautitlán Izcalli
  • Chalco
  • Chicoloapan
  • Chimalhuacán
  • Ecatepec by Morelos

  • La Paz
  • Naucalpan de Juárez
  • NezahualcĂłyotl
  • Nicolás Romero
  • Tecámac
  • Tlalnepantla de Baz
  • Tultitlán
  • The Valley

Who Is Exempt?

Not all vehicles are affected by these restrictions. Exemptions include:
  • Zero Hologram Vehicles: Cars with zero or zero double holograms—this generally includes electric or hybrid vehicles that meet this criterion.
  • Accessibility Plates: Vehicles registered with plates for individuals with disabilities.
  • Service Vehicles: Emergency and funeral service vehicles are also excluded from the program.

Final Thoughts

These circulatory restrictions form part of a broader initiative aimed at reducing environmental impact through reduced traffic and lower emissions. If you live or work in CDMX or the State of Mexico, check your vehicle’s eligibility and plan your travel accordingly on March 10, 2025. By understanding these regulations and ensuring compliance, residents and businesses alike can contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable urban environment.
