    Hi guys,

I completely new to Windows, and I've been having blue screen of death problems with memory dumping when streaming video with windows explorer.

I've actually had a few of these, but ignored the problem when it happened because the OS rebooted normally. Now I can't start windows in nomal mode! I get an error about a process called 'Autochk' and an error message starting with 766f6c756d652... Then the background goes black and all I can see is the cursor.

I really don't know what to do! Please help!

I've attached the last dmp (although there are more if needed), and also some system information.

    Many thanks,
    Plamen

Bug 116, caused by nVidia driver.

    - bad driver
    - bad or overclocked video card
    - overclocked hardware/wrong memory settings

You should've taken CPU-Z screenshots in normal mode, they are all blank try again.
    + RAMMon HTML report

    1. Reinstall nVidia driver with the use of the driver sweeper:
    Guru3D - Driver Sweeper

Your nVidia drivers are so much outdated:
    nvlddmkm.sys Sat Sep 05 21:31:30 2009
    nvBridge.kmd Sat Sep 05 21:04:51 2009

    2. Update other drivers too:

    Ricoh

    rimmpx64.sys Thu Sep 03 06:37:00 2009
    rixdpx64.sys Thu Sep 03 07:14:28 2009

    Conexant

    xaudio64.sys Tue Nov 28 19:45:04 2006

    Intel LAN

    e1e6032e.sys Tue Mar 24 14:17:23 2009

    Intel Matrix Storage

    iaStor.sys Thu Jun 04 21:53:40 2009

    ThinkPad
    ibmpmdrv.sys Thu May 31 05:51:31 2007

    Lenovo Smart Card Reader
    LenovoRd.sys Mon May 11 05:33:56 2009

OpenVPN tap-win32 driver (a driver used by various software products such as Google Earth)
    tap0901.sys Fri Nov 20 08:26:50 2009

    3. Last but not the least, do not overclock. Because 116 can be caused by OC-ing as well.

    Many thanks for your reply.

"You should've taken CPU-Z screenshots in normal mode, they are all blank try again."

Actually, this is part of the problem: since the last BSOD, I can't restart windows in normal mode!
After the Windows 7 splash sreen, it always tries to perform a memory diagnostic that inevitably fails.
The report at the end is "unknown error (766f6c756d652e63 3f1)".
I then get a blank screen on which I can see the mouse, and the system cannot get past this.
I can start the system in safe mode; I'm using this currently.

I have now updated the graphics drivers as recommended, but I still get the above problem.
I've tried to perform return to a previous system save, as has been recommended on many websites, but this always fails in safe mode.

Sorry if I'm not using the correct protocol for this website! I'm still not sure of the rules!
Should I start a new thread with this problem?

    Hi again,

I've just run a chkdsk in safe mode and confirmed that I have some damaged data on my hard disc.
I assume this means I have corrupted some important system files, which is why there is no start-up in normal mode.

I have read that I should use the start-up disc to fix this error.
Since this may cause memory loss, I wanted to run this by you before I do anything drastic and lose my personal data (and that of other users!)

    Many thanks,
    Plamen

    1. In safe or normal mode, type in the command prompt:

    chkdsk /f

    When finished type sfc /scannow

    2. If still cannot boot,

boot in safe mode and disable the videocard in Control panel > Device manager.

The repair function should be used in case the system is damaged, which is probably not your case since you are getting stop 0x116.

    3. Drivers (starting with the video driver) must be updated to the compatible with Windows 7.

Again, your blue screen error is 0x116 which generally means bad videocard or bad driver. It is a good idea to testfor 0x116 errors with Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark - Windows 7 Forums

You don't have to run it for several hours, just let it do the passes to see if you get any 0x116 blue screens during the test. Should be done in normal mode and with the video driver updated.

When I ran this command, I got a "Volume in use by another process" message, so I couldn't carry it out.
I tried chkdsk /c sfc \scannow[\B] instead, and discovered that indeed some of the files were damaged beyond repair.
    The CBS log is attached.

In this case it is a good idea to format the partition and reinstall/recover to the factory defaults from the backup image.

Close all programs and windows, then run chkdsk /f again and enter "Y" to reboot and start the process.

Alternatively, press "F8" on start and choose the command prompt.

Again, what you need is chkdsk /f (not /c).

OK, I do not know what this means. But maybe someone else will understand this CBS log entry. It seems to be saying it could not open some registry functions.

I think I see what happened, for some reason the Trusted Installer was shut down only 1/3 way through the SFC. Two other SFCs were exactly the same and both completed. It seems the file spoolsv.exe is damaged or missing in all System File Checks.

Format the partition, then reinstall the system or recover it from backup. Update drivers. If it crashes again, attach the dmps.

Running chkdsk /f in recovery mode seems to have done the trick! I can now log in in normal mode! Thanks!!

I will update the drivers and let you know how it works out!
