Windows Vista "No Internet Access"

I'm having an issue that I've not seen on any forum, so I figured I'd just post. When I attempt to connect to the internet, most of the time I can connect and everything works dandy. Yet, there's a fraction of the times I try to connect that it tells me I have no internet access. This isn't true, due to my roommate's laptop and my desktop are both connected without an issue, yet my laptop is not. Any ideas guys?

-- I don't know hardly anything about actually working on computers, so any advice in detail is AMAZING. Thanks so much.
