Got this PC from this guy,ran well, BUT - No sound. Please help.Thanks.

Specs:

AMD Athlon64 X2 4200
4 GB RAM
Nvidia 6800GS video card
MSI motherboard Model # MS-7125

Chipset: Nvdia - nForce4 - Rev4

Sound card: Realtek , AC97'

Running windows 7 Pro - X64

Solution
In the bios, make sure onboard sound is enabled. Then install this driver if not already:

Link Removed

Then make sure it is set as the default playback device.

If all checks out, then it is a heavy overclock of the memory/cpu causing the issue. AC '97 does this. Set standard clocks and the sound will function again.
Did you right click on the speaker icon in the toolbar and set things up?

do you see the soundcard with the correct driver in device manager? Are the sound properties setup?

yes, in the Device Manager......under Sound & Controller
- Realtek, AC97'

I have uninstall the original and reinstalled the latest driver NOT the HD from Realtek, but to NO avail.....
