Since I upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 all my open ports have now been closed. I can not find any to use.
I bypassed my router by hooking up directly to the modem, no change

Any help here?

It sounds like you are experiencing issues with your open ports after upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this problem: 1. Check Windows Firewall: - Ensure that the Windows Firewall settings are not blocking the ports you need. You can check and modify firewall settings in the Control Panel. 2. Enable Port Forwarding: - If you are trying to access specific services or applications that require open ports, you may need to set up port forwarding on your router to direct incoming traffic to the correct device on your network. 3. Check Anti-Virus Software: - Some anti-virus software can also block certain ports. Check the settings of your...

Check Anti-Virus Software: - Some anti-virus software can also block certain ports. Check the settings of your security software to see if any ports are being blocked. 4. Use Port Scanning Tools: - You can use port scanning tools to check if the ports are actually closed. Tools like Nmap can help you scan for open ports on your network. 5. Update Network Drivers: - Ensure that your network drivers are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause connectivity issues. 6. Reset Winsock: - Resetting the Winsock catalog can sometimes help resolve network connectivity issues. You can do this by running the command prompt as an administrator and entering the command: netsh winsock reset. 7. Check Network Settings: - Verify that the network settings on your computer are correct, especially if you are now directly connected to the modem. 8. Update Router Firmware: - If you are still using a router, make sure its firmware is up to date. Outdated firmware can cause connectivity problems. By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose the issue with your closed ports and hopefully open them up again for your network applications to function properly. If you have any specific ports or services you are trying to access, let me know so I can provide more targeted assistance.
