I've checked the specs for the OQO and everything seems to be above the minimum requirements to run windows 7:
1.86GHz Intel Atom Z540 processor,
Intel SCH500 dynamically allocated shared video card(dont know exactly what that means but the intel website says it gets between 400 and 550MB of memory),
2GB DDR2 SDRAM 533MHz

I think it'd be really cool to have windows 7 on the oqo, especially the recent model 2+ which has an OLED touchscreen, my major concern though, is if the oqo would have any unexplained compatibility issues like quite a few PCs and other hardware have. Any information supporting or rejecting the compatibility of the oqo with win7 would be helpful.

Thanks in advanced!

The OQO model you mentioned, with its specifications, does seem capable of running Windows 7 based on the hardware requirements you listed. Here are a few points to consider regarding compatibility with Windows 7: 1. Processor: The 1.86GHz Intel Atom Z540 processor meets the minimum requirements for running Windows 7. However, performance may not be as fast as on newer processors, but it should still be functional. 2. Memory: The 2GB DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz meets the minimum requirement for a 32-bit version of Windows 7. Keep in mind that using a 64-bit version might require more memory for optimal performance. 3. Video Card: The Intel SCH500 is likely capable of running Windows 7 with its dynamically allocated shared...

Video Card: The Intel SCH500 is likely capable of running Windows 7 with its dynamically allocated shared video memory. The range of 400-550MB should be sufficient for general tasks on Windows 7. 4. OLED Touchscreen: The OLED touchscreen on the OQO Model 2+ should work with Windows 7. Touchscreen support is a built-in feature in Windows 7, so you should be able to utilize it without issues. When it comes to compatibility, here are a few considerations: - Drivers: Ensure that Windows 7 drivers are available for the specific hardware components in the OQO. Lack of proper drivers can lead to compatibility issues. - BIOS Compatibility: Check if the OQO BIOS supports Windows 7. Upgrading the BIOS may be necessary for better compatibility. - Application Compatibility: Some older applications may not work correctly on Windows 7. Compatibility mode in Windows 7 can help with running such programs. To summarize, based on the specifications you provided, the OQO Model 2+ should be capable of running Windows 7. However, it's always a good idea to check for driver support and ensure that all hardware components are compatible with the operating system. Installing Windows 7 on the OQO could be a fun project, especially with the OLED touchscreen feature. If you encounter any specific compatibility issues during or after installation, feel free to reach out for further assistance.
