Windows 7 outlook express????

I realize that its gone (Outlook X) but why? It seemed like a great email client that worked well. I don't really like outlook itself and have been using gmail which is ok but the same. Is there another mail app that M/S suggests besides outlook?

i have installed mozilla thunderbird that works very well, with windows live mail i try to import the old dbx of outlook express buy i failed, in thunderbird i import all dbx and all works great!
