Windows 10 Paragraph mark always showing word 2007

When I open any new Word document I always get a paragraph symbol where the first line would start. Under the paragraph section the paragraph symbol is highlighted, but it will not turn off. Also the symbol can not be deleted. Under the style Normal it has a paragraph symbol before the Normal name.

What can I do the correct this.

Check the following in settings:

You probably have enabled the Paragraph marks.
When editing a file and if the paragraph mark is shown, just press the paragraph icon on the Home Ribbon.

I tried that already and no luck. Last night I did to a restore to before this problem. The paragraph symbol wasn't on word when I started a new page. I don't know if this will continue working but for right now I am without it.
