Windows 7 PC won't restart after installing Windows 7

I tried to install the W7 Release Candidate into a new Partition on my XP machine and, following the 2nd reboot of the installation, my PC now comes up as far as the Boot From CD prompt and just sits there:(
If I put the installation DVD in the drive, restart and boot from the disk, it comes up with the Install Windows dialogue. After I select my language it gives me the option to Repair my computer or Install. If I choose the Repair option it brings up the Sysem Recovery Options dialogue but Startup Repair returns with Startup Repair could not detect a problem. If I choose Install it tries to do what it says on the tin and I end up back where I started. I used the W7 install option to clean out the partition but noticed when it rebooted the first time that it still thought that I had 2x Windows 7 OS on there.
At the moment I can't even start up in XP so I am considering wiring the HDD into another computer, removing and recreating the new partition, then starting again.

Any help or suggestions gratefully received.

Mike.
