Guangfu Zhoa allegedly strangled his girlfriend at the Stamford Town Center February 23, 2011. She retaliated by stabbing him the back.

A Stamford couple are facing charges after a dispute over a phone bill lead to a stabbing.

The incident started Wednesday afternoon near the Wellness Center at Stamford Town Center.

Zheng Zhuping told police that she and her boyfriend, Guangfu Zhoa, began fighting over the phone bill and that Zhoa grabbed her by the throat and kicked her to the ground. She says she lost consciousness and when she came to she grabbed a knife and chased him through the mall.

Zhuping chased Zhoa to the security office where he sustained a stab wound to the lower back. Both were treated and released at an area hospital.

They are both facing various assault charges.
