my windows 7 came with my used computer. suddenly i am getting a notice my windows 7 may be a pirated copy. i changed no components to my computer.

currently it seems to still be working (except background settings). it says i can't get updates. do i need to buy new windows 7 software immediately, or can i still run things for a few weeks?

Is it telling you that your copy is definitely pirated?
Or is the message telling you that you maybe a victim of piracy?
Have you tried to re-activate Windows 7 through the Windows activation link?

What does this tool tell you when you run it? Link Removed due to 404 Error
The software that you are about to download works with most browsers and enables Windows validation. Once installed, it will detect whether Windows is genuine and properly licensed. If needed, it will also attempt to repair Windows 7 licensing components that may have been damaged, moved, or deleted. From time to time, this software will also perform a validation check to make sure that Windows 7 running on your PC is genuine and stays that way. View the privacy statement.

it says i may be a victim of pirating. the tool says that the product key is already in use or is blocked by microsoft.

Do you have an OEM sticker on the PC or know the activation key that was used?

Speccy will tell you the key that was used if you don't know for sure.

From this location at the bottom of the screen, do you have access to a link for re-activating?
[Control Panel >> System and Security >> System] (for a shortcut press "WinKey + Pause")

You can try activating Windows again but if the key has been blocked, Windows will not activate and you will need to either contact Microsoft or purchase another license. Chances are Microsoft would just tell you to purchase a new License. However if you did contact Microsoft and explain your situation to them, they might feel lenient and give you a discount.

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool
(download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
- **in your own thread**, please
Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!
