I have bought an acer aspire E1-571 notebook. it came with windows 8 single language installed. but I have compatibility issues with a lot of my devices. I would like to install windows 7 on the shrunk partition I have created but with it being a GTP partition win 7 wont install. I want to keep windows 8 and run win 7 simultaneously. how do I do this without having to delete all the partitions ?

Solution
To set up a dual-boot configuration with Windows 8 and Windows 7 without deleting any partitions, you will need to follow these general steps:

Step 1: Create a Partition for Windows 7

  1. Ensure you have a separate partition for Windows 7.
  2. If you've already created a partition for Windows 7, proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Prepare a Bootable Windows 7 Installation USB

  3. Create a bootable Windows 7 installation USB drive.
  4. You can use tools like Rufus to create the bootable USB drive.

    Step 3: Disable Secure Boot

  5. Access your BIOS settings.
  6. Disable Secure Boot (if present) to allow Windows 7 installation.

    Step 4: Install Windows 7

  7. Insert the Windows 7 installation USB.

  7. Insert the Windows 7 installation USB.
  8. Restart your computer and boot from the USB.
  9. Follow the on-screen instructions to install Windows 7 on the partition you created.

    Step 5: Configure Dual Boot

  10. After the installation is complete, you might find that your system automatically boots to Windows 7.
  11. Use tools like EasyBCD to configure the dual-boot option.
    • Add an entry to the boot menu to allow you to choose between Windows 7 and Windows 8 during startup.

Step 6: Dual Boot Windows 8 and Windows 7

  12. Restart your computer and you should see a boot menu that lets you choose between Windows 7 and Windows 8.

    Important Consideration:

    • Every time you want to switch between Windows 7 and Windows 8, you will need to restart your computer and choose the operating system from the boot menu.

      Reminder:

    • Before proceeding with any changes to your system, it's recommended to back up all your important data to prevent any data loss. This process allows you to keep Windows 8 and Windows 7 installed on separate partitions, enabling you to run both operating systems simultaneously.
