Windows 7 Power consumption Windows 7 vs. Vista Business

Hello,

I recently bought a new notebook (HP 8530p) with a preinstalled Windows Vista Business 32-Bit. With Vista I measured a power consumption of 30W in idle mode and up to 60W during startup. When I start an application like Visual Studio is goes up to 40W for a few seconds.

Then I installed Windows 7 RC1 and I have a constant power consumption of 60W.

Can anybody give me a reason for this behavior?
