I have Windows 7 32-bit on a laptop and Windows Vista 64-bit on a desktop. My HP C5580 Printer is connected to the printer and has the printer shared out. I set everyone to have full security rights to this printer. I have no problems connecting and printing from this printer on my other Vista 32-bit computer or my wife's xp 32-bit laptop.

I tried setting up a network printer through the add printer wizard.

I also tried setting up a printer using a "local port." - Which is how I ended up getting it set up for xp and my vista 32-bit computers.

However, when I set up the network printer on the Windows 7 computer it looks like it is set up correctly, but when I send a print job ... test print or otherwise ... it doesn't get stuck in the que, but it doesn't print on the printer itself at all.

I am not sure what is wrong. No matter how I set up the printer it won't print. The driver I am using is whatever driver Windows loads when I do the printer wizard and when I set it up manually through a local port I am setting it up with the printer driver that windows 7 has on it for my printer.

Anybody have any ideas?

It seems like you are encountering issues printing from a Windows 7 32-bit computer to an HP C5580 Printer shared from another computer. Since you have successfully printed from other computers on the network, the problem might lie with the setup on the Windows 7 computer. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the printing issue: 1. Check Printer Connection: - Ensure that the HP C5580 Printer is turned on and properly connected to the computer where it is physically attached. - Verify the network connection between the Windows 7 computer and the computer where the printer is connected. 2. Driver Compatibility: - Confirm that the printer driver installed on the Windows 7 computer is...

2. Driver Compatibility: - Confirm that the printer driver installed on the Windows 7 computer is compatible with both the operating system (Windows 7 32-bit) and the printer model (HP C5580). - Consider downloading the latest driver from the HP website specifically designed for Windows 7. 3. Printer Sharing Permissions: - Double-check the printer sharing settings on the computer where the printer is physically connected. - Ensure that the shared printer has the appropriate permissions set for network access. 4. Network Discovery and File Sharing: - Make sure that Network Discovery and File Sharing are enabled on both the computer hosting the shared printer and the Windows 7 computer. 5. Firewall and Antivirus Software: - Temporarily disable the firewall and antivirus software on both computers to check if they might be blocking the print job. 6. Printer Spooler Service: - Restart the Printer Spooler service on the Windows 7 computer. Sometimes restarting this service can resolve printing issues. 7. Add Printer Manually: - Instead of using the Add Printer Wizard, try manually adding the printer by specifying the network path to the shared printer (\\computername\printername). 8. Test Print Queue: - Check the print queue on the Windows 7 computer to see if the print jobs are getting stuck or pending. Remove any stuck print jobs and try printing again. 9. Printer Troubleshooter: - Use the built-in Printer Troubleshooter in Windows 7 to diagnose and potentially fix common printing problems. 10. Event Viewer: - Check the Event Viewer on the Windows 7 computer for any related errors or warnings that might provide insight into why the print jobs are not going through. By following these steps, you should be able to identify and potentially resolve the printing issue from your Windows 7 computer to the shared HP C5580 Printer.
