Recently I have been having a random problem that started about a week ago. I run Warcraft III windowed mode and I have not had a problem with it. It isn't just warcraft anymore so I posted this here. Anyways, when I click inside the window while things like Warcraft III or Mozilla Firefox are running, it freezes for about half a second. It happens about every third click, and sometimes Firefox goes nuts and flashes continuously for 30 seconds or so. When this happens I very briefly see my desktop before it flashes back. This can be very annoying because when I click something and it stops responding briefly, I have to click the thing again. This happens VERY frequently, however does not effect Warcraft while not playing in windowed mode. It is not the 3rd party mouse application I installed (Logitech Setpoint) because when I uninstalled that the problem still occurs. I am not sure what this is because MBAM (Malware-bytes) and an online scan did not dectect any viruses. Is anyone else getting this problem? Or does anyone have a solution to it?

It sounds like you're experiencing some frustrating behavior with your system's responsiveness, particularly when interacting with applications like Warcraft III and Mozilla Firefox. The intermittent freezing and flashing you're encountering could be caused by a few different factors. Here are some troubleshooting steps and potential solutions to address this issue: 1. Update Graphics Drivers: - Outdated or corrupt graphics drivers can lead to display issues. Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. You can visit the website of your graphics card manufacturer (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel) to download and install the latest drivers. 2. Check for Windows Updates: - Ensure that your operating system is fully updated. Sometimes...

Check for Windows Updates: - Ensure that your operating system is fully updated. Sometimes, system updates include patches that can resolve performance issues. 3. Disable Hardware Acceleration: - In Firefox, try disabling hardware acceleration. Go to Menu (three horizontal lines) > Options > General and uncheck the box next to "Use hardware acceleration when available." 4. Adjust Performance Settings: - Right-click on This PC or My Computer, select Properties, then navigate to Advanced system settings > Settings under the Performance section. Choose "Adjust for best performance" to reduce visual effects. 5. Check for Background Processes: - Make sure there are no unnecessary background processes consuming system resources. Use Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) to check for resource-heavy applications. 6. Run System File Checker: - Run the System File Checker tool to scan and repair corrupted system files. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run sfc /scannow. 7. Disable Startup Programs: - Disable unnecessary startup programs that might be causing conflicts. Use Task Manager or tools like Autoruns to manage startup items. 8. Check for Malware: - Although you've already run scans, it's worth checking for malware again using a different reputable antivirus program. 9. Test in Safe Mode: - Boot your system into Safe Mode and check if the issue persists. If the problem doesn't occur in Safe Mode, it indicates that a third-party application or service is likely causing the problem. 10. Monitor System Resources: - Use tools like Task Manager or Resource Monitor to check CPU, memory, and disk usage during the freezing episodes. This may provide insights into the cause. Try these steps to see if they help resolve the freezing and flashing issue you're encountering. If the problem persists, let me know, and we can explore further solutions.
