Windows 7 program crashed

I downloaded/ran the latest edition of Firefox.
My computer appeared to crash: startup repair failed twice, would not start in Safe Mode, F9 Diagnostics all passed, F11 System Recovery failed.
Finally I used System Restore to return to an earlier date. The Firefox program was deleted.

It appears that Firefox caused this crash. I have downloaded the Firefox program again but have not installed it.

Any ideas on what happened here?

I ran into that last summer. It maybe the Adobe Flash and Firefox Flash plugin also. What AV are you using? AVG is frequently mentioned in crash analysis. Look in the BSOD section and read instructions there and post your dump file there.

I am using NIS without any contamination to this point.

I use Firefox only when there is a problem with IE8.

Have to use inferior Internet service, as they have a monoply here. I suspect this is part of my problem.
