Windows 7 Program not responding..!!!!

I have a new dell studio running windows 7 and for some reason almost all of my programs, when I try to open them say "not responding". This also includes the games that came with windows such as minesweeper and solitare, etc. I can still use internet explorer but it also says not responding and locks up.

You say new.... did it ship from Dell this way? If yes, I would return it.... if no, try repairing the system files.

Type "sfc /scannow" (w/o the quotes) from a command prompt. You may have to insert your system disk if it needs to repair files.
