Problem description
My problem is as follows:
  • When the computer has been turned off for at least a few hours, I'm getting BSOD's while booting but it is rarely.
  • When cold booting (computer has been turned off for at least several hours), I get a BSOD just after the Windows 7 `Starting Windows` logo screen.
  • The BSOD message differs:PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA, and sometimes IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.
  • The computer boots, but gives a BSOD after a few secs on the desktop.
  • The computer boots, but when you left it doing nothing for 5-10 mins then it will crash in random times.
  • After a succesful boot, Windows runs perfectly, including games (e.g. NFS The Run etc @ max most heavy games runs perfectly).

  • I have reinstalled Windows a few times, and I tried different Catalyst drivers (12.2, 12.3 and 12.4), and various (including latest) motherboard BIOSes.
  • Tested memory with memtest usually 9passes per stick, replaced PSU, tried scanning hdd for errors/ installing OS to another HDD`s - still no solution.
  • Tried sfc /scannow -no error found/ diver verifier - didn't crash when activated.

Solution
It seems like you are experiencing a challenging issue with your computer displaying BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) errors, specifically when cold booting after the computer has been turned off for a few hours. The error messages you mentioned, such as PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA and IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, are indications of potential hardware or driver-related problems. Here are some troubleshooting steps you have already taken:
  1. Reinstalling Windows multiple times.
  2. Testing memory with memtest.
  3. Replacing the PSU (Power Supply Unit).
  4. Scanning the HDD for errors and trying to install the OS on a different HDD.
  5. Running sfc /scannow for system file integrity. Given the steps you've already tried, here are a few additional...

  5. Running sfc /scannow for system file integrity. Given the steps you've already tried, here are a few additional suggestions you might consider:
  6. Update or Rollback Drivers: Ensure all critical drivers, especially the motherboard chipset driver, are up to date. You might also want to try rolling back to older versions to see if the issue goes away.
  7. Check for Overheating: Monitor the temperatures of your CPU and GPU to ensure they are not overheating, as excessive heat can lead to system instability.
  8. Check for Hardware Issues: Run diagnostics on your hardware components using tools like HWMonitor or HWiNFO to check if any hardware components are failing.
  9. BIOS Update: Make sure your BIOS is up to date. Sometimes a BIOS update can resolve compatibility issues or bugs.
  10. Check for Software Conflicts: Check if any recently installed software might be causing conflicts. You can try booting into Safe Mode to see if the issue persists.
  11. Event Viewer: Check the Windows Event Viewer for any specific errors or warnings that might indicate the root cause of the problem. Given the detailed troubleshooting steps you've already taken, it might be beneficial to focus on hardware diagnostics and double-checking driver compatibility. If the issue persists, you may need to consider seeking professional help or discussing the problem with the manufacturer's support team. Feel free to provide any additional information or updates on the situation for further assistance.
