I have been getting random BSoDs lately. Have had the computer for about a year now and they just started but are happening more frequently. I can't seem to find a connection between them. Sometimes it is while watching video w/ WMP, other times it is right on startup, sometimes PC is just sitting there and it happens.

I ran memtest86+ before posting this but only got 2hrs and 3 passes. But no errors. I will run again overnight.

I have hopefully attached everything youneed in the zip. Should have SF diagnostics, CPU-Z, RAMMon, Picture of my last BSoD.
I couldn't get SF Diag. to get Event logs though, so if I need those, could someone tell me how to get them for you.

My specs are in my profile but if it is easier for me to post them I can, just let me know.

Sorry I am not of more help, in the past ten years of building my own rigs this is the first time I have had to deal with a BSoD.

Thank you so much for the help this forum has been extremely helpful so far.

Hi yourrealdad and Welcome to The Forum.

    STOP 0x0000001E: KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
    Usual causes:
Device driver, hardware, System service, compatibility, Remote control programs, memory, BIOS

Your latest dump file lists ntkrnlmp.exe as the probable cause.
This is a Windows System file and for it to be the cause of your crash is highly unlikely.
Old and incompatible drivers can and do cause issues with Windows 7, often giving false error codes.
Random stop codes can often indicate hardware issues.

    As a Priority:

Norton is known to be a cause of BSOD's on many Windows 7 systems. I suggest that you uninstall Norton using the Norton Removal Tool in Safe Mode. Download Blue Screen friendly Microsoft Security Essentials as its replacement. Make sure Windows firewall is enabled!

Drivers that pre-date Windows 7. Update:

GEARAspiWDM.sys Mon May 18 13:17:04 2009 Gear Software CD-ROM Class Filter Driver v4.019.1 (Oct 2011). Also loads with iTunes

    Drivers with Updates:

    atikmdag.sys Wed Oct 27 03:29:53 2010 AMD Graphics Drivers

    • Download and install DriverSweeper.
    • Uninstall your current Graphics setup through Programs and Features
    • Boot to (preferably) Safe Mode and run Driver Sweeper to clean up the remnants of your current Graphics set up.
    • Reboot to Normal Mode.
    • Install your new Graphics set up.

Go to your Motherboard Mfr. Support website (or NEC/Renesas) and update your USB 3.0 drivers. A June 2011 set are available Here.

Rt64win7.sys Mon May 31 04:46:43 2010 Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller v7.050 If you're unsure about manually installing drivers then choose the Win7 and WinServer 2008 R2 Auto Installation Program (SID:1477671) option to download.

    KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (1e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address

Arg1: ffffffffc0000005, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: fffff80002cc8b65, The address that the exception occurred at

    Elmer,
Thank you for the quick reply. I am trying to uninstall my graphics and I am not seeing anything that looks like a graphics set up. Can I just install the new driver over the old one? Why am I not seeing it? It should be an ATI program correct?
    Thanks again

Have a look for AMD Catalyst install Manager.

With later drivers it's OK to install over your old set-up but there were a few set-ups from 2010 that gave a few people trouble. If you can remove then all well and good (Driver Sweeper will remove the lot in Safe Mode). If you can't uninstall first it probably wouldn't be the end of the world.

N.B. I see you have another thread with a possible hardware problem. Is this the same PC?

Yep same PC, just trying to figure out what is going on. I am not skilled enough to know whether it is software vs. hardware. The freezing wasn't really happening when I posted this thread.

Elmer, I can't seem to get EZ flash to work. Bios recognizes the flash drive but when I choose EZ flash nothing happens. Any ideas? and what is the next best way for me to flash my bios. I do not have a floppy drive. I do have a dvd drive.

Edit: I got it, still freezing and crashing though
    Thank you

I can not find anything having to do with ATI. I have no catalyst manager in programs. So I just wiped them with the sweeper. Should I just keep the stock graphics or should I update the drivers. I have read that the ATI drivers have messed things up pretty good.
    Thanks again

As I said, the ati (or some of them) pre Xmas 2010 had some issues but the all seem to have settled of late, as in, this / last years.
You can just install the graphics drivers etc. as it tended to be the Catalyst Control Centre that was causing issues (think I got that right!!).
