Windows 7 Random Crashes

My computer will randomly crash while sitting idle. I'll come back to see the login screen and when i log in it'll say it has recovered from an unexpected shutdown. I tried to follow the directions to read the dump files, but it keeps saying I don't have the symbols..Could someone help me out with what I need to do? I can reload my PC but that's always a pain in the ... and I'm trying to avoid doing that right now.

Seems like multiple issue going on. Follow the below steps.

You have few out-dated drivers.

Uninstall all the Asus related Utilities

Go to C:\Windows\Drivers and rename ASACPI.sys to ASACPI.old and reboot the System.

Uninstall Daemon lite or Alcohol 120% and any image drive softwares installed. And follow this guide and uninstall sptd.sys DuplexSecure - FAQ

Uninstall Norton / Symantec and use this guide Link Removed - Invalid URL and install Microsoft Security Essentials

Bugcheck:

UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (7f)
This means a trap occurred in kernel mode, and it's a trap of a kind
that the kernel isn't allowed to have/catch (bound trap) or that
is always instant death (double fault).  The first number in the
bugcheck params is the number of the trap (8 = double fault, etc)
Consult an Intel x86 family manual to learn more about what these
traps are. Here is a *portion* of those codes:
If kv shows a taskGate
        use .tss on the part before the colon, then kv.

Rather than delete ASACPI.sys, update it by installing my attachment.

Follow the rest of what Captain said and then boot to safe mode to remove Norton/Symantec with the tool from here:

Reboot and install MSE.

I am not sure if this helps, but I am also receiving the message that my computer has recently recovered from an unexpected shutdown. Actually it is happening on two of my PCs that are both running Windows 7 and Office 2007. Both are aslo running Avast for virus protection. One PC was purchased about 3 months ago and the other is over 3 years old so I do not believe this is a driver issue. The problem began on both machines immediately after each received the latest updates from Microsoft although they received them on different days. These updates contained 16 patches that were mostly critical security updates and none contained driver updates.
