I am trying to help my mother to change her screen saver. When she first purchased her laptop which she bought less than a year ago. Now at this present time, the computer will not let her change her background picture. I would really like to help her I am not so sure how though.

Hello kellylovesmusic,

to Windows 7 Forums,

You should be able to change the Screen Saver by;

1. Open "Control Panel"
2. Click on "Appearance & Personalization"
3. Under "Personalization" click on "Change screen saver", a new window will open "Screen Saver Settings"
4. From the drop down menu, choose your screen saver, click "Apply", then "OK"

Could you also tell us which Windows version you are running, ie; Starter, Home Premium, Ultimate, etc:

Hope this helps
Don

As Don is no doubt suggesting;
Windows 7 Starter edition comes with one desktop background, which can't be changed or customized.

If you upgraded to Windows 7 Home Basic or Windows 7 Starter from a previous version of Windows, you can no longer right-click the desktop to change some appearance settings, such as the desktop background, screen saver, and window color.
SOURCE: Personalize your computer
There are some third party resources available if you choose to go that route simply Google windows 7 starter personalization
